Votito for Chrome

The Votito Chrome extension lets you capture user feedback wherever you find it — support tickets, review sites, social posts, sales-call notes — and add it to a Votito idea bank as a proposal, without leaving the page. Select some text, choose Add to Votito, review the pre-filled proposal, and submit. This page is for researchers and product managers who want to clip feedback into their workspace.

What the extension does

The extension captures the current page — a text selection, the page title and its URL — and hands it to Votito. Everything else happens on a Votito page in a new tab, using your existing signed-in Votito session. There is nothing to configure: no API key, no options page, no separate sign-in for the extension. It never reads or stores your browsing, and it only acts when you trigger it.

Before you start

A Votito account. If you don’t have one yet, sign up and get started.
At least one idea bank in your workspace to add proposals to. If your workspace has none, Votito will prompt you to create one.
Google Chrome (or another Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome Web Store extensions).

Install from the Chrome Web Store

Open the Chrome extension install page in Votito and click Add to Chrome, or go straight to the Votito listing in the Chrome Web Store.
Confirm Add extension when Chrome asks.
The Votito icon appears in your browser toolbar. That’s the whole setup — no configuration, no API key.

Capture feedback

There are two ways to capture, depending on whether you have text selected:

Selected text. Select the feedback on any page, right-click, and choose Add to Votito. The menu item appears only when text is selected. Votito captures the selection, the page title and the page URL.
Whole page. With nothing selected, click the Votito toolbar icon. Votito captures just the page title and URL, leaving the description for you to fill in.

Either way, Votito opens a new tab with a pre-filled Add proposal form.

If you’re already signed in to Votito, the capture tab goes straight to the pre-filled form — no sign-in step. If you’re signed out, the usual Votito sign-in appears on the same tab, so your captured text is never lost. Sign in with Google (an auto-closing popup keeps you on the tab), email code, or password, and the form appears once you’re in.

Choose the workspace and idea bank

Workspace. The proposal goes to your active Votito workspace by default. If your account has more than one workspace, a switcher lets you choose; most people never see it.
Idea bank. If your workspace has more than one idea bank, pick which one the proposal goes into. Votito remembers your last choice per workspace. If your workspace has only one bank, it’s used automatically and no picker is shown.
No idea banks yet? Votito shows a prompt to create an idea bank in a separate tab (so this tab keeps your captured text) and a Try again link to reload the list here once you’ve made one.

Review and submit

The form is pre-filled from your capture:

Title — the page title (editable).
Description — the selected text, with a Source: line for the page URL appended. For a whole-page capture, only the source line is filled in and you add the description.

Edit anything you like, then click Add proposal. The proposal is created exactly like one added by hand — same idea bank, same default open status.

Where the proposal lands

The proposal is added to the idea bank you chose, in your active workspace, with status open — identical to a proposal created directly in Votito. On the confirmation you can:

View proposal — open it in the idea bank to keep working with it.
Add another — reset to a fresh capture form for the next clip.
Close — close the capture tab (shown when the tab was opened by the extension).

From there the proposal flows into your idea bank like any other — ready for votes, comments and prioritization.

Permissions and privacy

The extension requests minimal permissions: it reads the current tab’s selection, title and URL only when you trigger a capture, and opens a Votito tab. It uses no host permissions, installs no content script, and captures no screenshots or page contents beyond what you select. It relies on your normal Votito web session — no separate extension credentials. See our privacy policy and terms of use for details.

Troubleshooting

“Add to Votito” isn’t in the right-click menu. It only appears when text is selected. To capture a whole page, click the toolbar icon instead.
The capture tab asks me to sign in. Sign in on that tab — your captured text is preserved. Once signed in, the pre-filled form appears.
No idea bank to choose. Your workspace has no idea banks yet. Create one in the separate tab Votito opens, then click Try again.

Remove the extension

Remove the Votito extension from Chrome’s Extensions page to stop capturing. Removing it does not delete any proposals you’ve already added to Votito.
