Votito for Slack

The Votito app for Slack closes that gap. Connect a Slack workspace to your Votito workspace, choose which activity goes to which channel, and Votito posts a message into Slack every time matching activity happens — or a digest summarising it. Nobody has to poll a dashboard, and the discussion happens where your team already is.

• Messages come from the Votito bot. They are posted by Votito, carrying Slack's APP badge, into the channel attached to the notification rule that matched.
• A real-time message shows what happened — for example a New Proposal label, the idea bank it belongs to, the proposal title, a short preview of its description, a View Proposal link back into Votito, and a footer naming the notification rule that sent it.
• Every message says who set it up. The last line of each message reads Set up in Votito by the person who created that notification rule, next to a link to your own notification settings. Anyone reading the channel can see who arranged the messages and who to ask about them. The name is plain text, not a Slack mention, so nobody is notified by it.
• A digest message shows the period it covers, the activity counts for that period, the activity grouped by idea bank or survey, and a View Activity Inbox link. Hourly digests are posted at five minutes past each hour (UTC) and summarise the previous hour.
• Public channels need no setup. Votito posts to any public channel you select without being invited to it first, so the bot does not appear in the channel's member list.
• Private channels need an invite. Run /invite @Votito in the private channel first; it then appears in Votito's channel picker. This is a Slack platform rule, not a Votito limitation.
• Nothing is posted on its own. Connecting a workspace posts no message. A message appears only when a notification rule exists and matching activity happens in Votito — or when you send a test from the rule.

1. Create a Votito account or sign in. Go to the Votito sign-in page and sign in, or create an account. Signing up takes an email address. The Slack connector is included in the Pro and Enterprise plans — see pricing.
2. Open the Slack setup page. Go to Integrations → Slack. It shows a status card reading Not connected and a Set up section.
3. Click Add to Slack. Votito sends you to Slack's standard authorisation page.
4. Choose your workspace and click Allow. Slack lists the permissions the app asks for (see Permissions and data) and, if you belong to more than one workspace, lets you switch between them at the top right.
5. Confirm the connection. Slack returns you to the Votito setup page, which confirms Workspace connected and offers Set up notification rules as the next step. The workspace now appears under Connected workspaces.

Installing needs no Slack admin approval beyond the standard authorisation screen — any workspace member who is allowed to install apps can complete it. You can connect more than one Slack workspace to the same Votito workspace.

Add to Slack

1. Open the notification wizard. In Votito, open an idea bank or a survey and click the bell icon in its title row, or open Activity Notifications and add a rule there.
2. Events. Choose whether the rule watches all activity, new proposals only, or new comments only.
3. Frequency. Choose real time, or an hourly, daily or weekly digest.
4. Channel. Choose Slack, pick the connected workspace, then pick the channel. Public channels are listed with a leading #; private channels appear once the bot has been invited to them, and a Refresh channels control reloads the list after you invite it.
5. Review, and send a test. The last step summarises the rule and offers Send test, which posts a sample message to the chosen channel immediately so you can confirm the wiring before you save. Then save the rule.

Saved rules are listed on the Activity Notifications page, each showing its channel and frequency, with controls to re-send a test or delete it. Add as many rules as you need — different events, frequencies and channels can run side by side.

The app requests no permission to read message history, no access to member profiles, and no write permission beyond posting messages. It stores only what it needs to deliver notifications: the workspace identity, the channels your rules target, an encrypted bot token, and a delivery record per message that is deleted automatically after 90 days. Votito never reads or stores the contents of your Slack conversations.

The token and the setup are kept on different terms. The encrypted bot token is deleted the moment the connection ends — when you disconnect the workspace or the app is removed from Slack — so nothing is left behind that could post to your channels. The workspace and channel details are configuration rather than a credential, so they stay for as long as your Votito account is open, and reconnecting brings your notification rules straight back.

• From Votito. On the Slack setup page, click Disconnect next to the workspace. Notifications stop immediately and the stored bot token is deleted; saved rules are kept and resume if you reconnect.
• From Slack. Remove the Votito app from the workspace in Slack's app management. Delivery stops and Votito deletes the stored bot token automatically.

Either way the token is deleted, not merely switched off, so Votito keeps nothing that could post to your workspace. Reconnecting runs the Slack authorisation again and issues a fresh token, and because your workspace and channel details were kept, your notification rules pick up where they left off.
